Helga

Founder and President of the Schiller Institute

In 1971, Helga Zepp-LaRouche traveled for many months through China, as one of the first European (German) journalists to do so, at the highpoint of the Cultural Revolution.  After her return, she began to study political science, history and philosophy at the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin, and later continued her studies at the Frankfurt/ Main University.  In 1977, Helga married the economist and statesman, Lyndon H. LaRouche, and together with her husband, she has pursued her political and cultural activities in many Asian nations, Europe, Latin America and the United States.  She has met with numerous political leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Mexican President Jose Lopez-Portillo.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche is one of the leading authorities on Friedrich Schiller and Nicolaus of Cusa, and the German Classical period, was well as Confucianism.  She has written extensively on the New Silk Road, and organized conferences for the concept in Asia and Europe during the 1990’s, earning her the informal title of the “Silk Road Lady,” by networks in China.  Recently, she has organized a series of conferences in Europe and the US on the theme of the “New Paradigm,” presently manifest in the multi-polar conception of the BRICS nations.  Helga recently presented a new EIR Special Report that she and associates authored, entitled “The New Silk Road Becomes the World Landbridge,” at the the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University.  The Chongyang Institute is also a co-sponsor of the report.  Helga Zepp-LaRouche is the founder and president of the Schiller Institute.
